Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine the needs and perceptions of special education teachers and parents regarding the establishment of a rehabilitation hospital school.
 Method: basic statistics were calculated and multiple response analysis was performed using SPSS 26.0.
 Results: In terms of implementation level of cooperation and support, both special teachers and parents showed the highest implementation level for ‘treatment and management appropriate for the disease.’ At the level of importance, special education teachers perceived ‘treatment and management appropriate for the disease’ as most important, and parents perceived ‘treatment by medical staff and sharing of medical information’ as most important.
 Conclusion: Based on the results, the necessary conditions and solutions for establishing a rehabilitation hospital school were presented, including the basic direction of operating a rehabilitation hospital school, parallel education and treatment, and provision of transdisciplinary teaching and learning support between education, medicine, and welfare.
