Abstract

This study conducted a design of pre-post examination control groups to verify the effect of Pilates exercises on the sleep quality, depression, and fatigue in postmenopausal women. A total of 36 postmenopausal women were sampled, and 12 were assigned to the experimental group, 12 to the comparative group, and 12 to the control group. The experimental treatment was performed for the experimental group and the comparative group for 50-55 minutes per day, three times a week, for 12 weeks. The quality of sleep, depression, and fatigue were measured and compared before and after Pilates workouts. As a result, it was confirmed that the difference between the pre- and post-measured values of the women in the experimental group who participated in Pilates exercises was the largest. The Pilates exercises for 12 weeks was defined as a program that can positively change the factors of sleep quality, depression, and fatigue in postmenopausal women. In future studies, there is a need to conduct studies designed to find a strategy for menopausal women to be able to actively participate in Pilates exercises and studies designed to define changes in sleep quality, depression, and fatigue according to the intensity of Pilates exercises.
