Abstract

The purpose of the article is to reveal the contribution in the domestic folklore of I. V. Pukhov, the founder of the comparative study of the Siberian peoples’ epic tales, the author of the books “Yakut Heroic Epic Tale Olonkho. The Main Images”, “From Folklore to Literature”. The authors attempt to cover the outstanding Olonkho researcher’s full bibliography. The paper ascertains that in his writings, V. I. Pukhov drew attention not only to the problems of studying the Olonkho genesis, but also to the issues of the historical and genealogical links of the Yakut epic tale with other Turkic peoples’ epic tales. His theoretical generalizations open up broad perspectives for studying the genesis, poetics, style of Olonkho in connection with the Turkic-Mongolian peoples’ epic tale.
