Abstract

Objectives The purpose of this study is to find out how Home Economics pre-service teachers perceive descriptive evaluation and to explore what and how to do in order to properly implement descriptive evaluation education for Home Economics subjects.
 Methods A survey was conducted on the perception of descriptive evaluation among 51 students who were completing the preparatory tutoring course at J Teachers College in Jeonbuk region. And some of them were sampled and post-interview was conducted.
 Results The survey results and interview results were summarized according to a total of 5 sub-factors, and the differences in perception between freshman-sophomore and senior graders, subjective descriptive evaluation and professionalism perceived by senior graders were derived.
 Conclusions The main results of this study are as follows. First, sufficient education on basic knowledge related to descriptive evaluation should be further emphasized. Second, it is necessary to provide sufficient experience in conducting practical descriptive evaluation. Third, it is necessary to find a way to increase the descriptive evaluation efficacy. Fourth, educational contents related to the ethical issues of narrative evaluation should be provided.
