Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of 12 weeks aerobic dance program on metabolic syndrome indices in post-menopausal depression abdominal obese women. A total 37 women more than one year after menopause were participated for this study. We divided all subjects into 4 groups by Beck Depression Inventory: severe-depression group(n=7), mild-depression group(n=8), light-depression group(n=11) and no depression group(n=11) as a control. For the exercise in this study, aerobic dance performed at an intensity of heart rate reserve 50~80%, 60 minutes of exercise time, and the frequency of 3 times a week. Conclusions obtained from this study were as follows:BR The participation of aerobic program improved the metabolic syndrome indices in all groups. In the results of waist circumference, glucose, triglycerides(TG) and systolic blood pressure(SBP) showed significant decrease. However, high density lipoprotein(HDL) cholesterol and diastolic blood pressure(DBP) were not improved significantly. Although, DBP was not decreased significantly, there was a trend toward reduced of DBP(p.083).BR As a conclusion, the aerobic dance program for 12 weeks would be a positive role for metabolic syndrome indices by post-menopausal depression abdominal obese women.BRBRBRBR
