Abstract

Chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS) is a common multifactorial disease encountered in the practice of not only obstetriciangynecologist, but also urologist, neurologist, and other specialists. In addition to organic pathology, psychological factors play a significant role in the development of this disease. According to the World Health Organization, CPPS affects up to 24% of women worldwide. Therefore, a comprehensive health history taking, consistent diagnostic measures, compliance with clear algorithms, proper selection of pharmacotherapy in conjunction with a multidisciplinary approach allow timely assistance to women with this syndrome. This article provides a detailed description of the possible causes and mechanisms of CPPS development and presents the author’s own algorithm for the treatment of patients with CPPS.
