Abstract

The purpose of the research is to identify the prerequisites of bioethical themes in Soviet nature protection and natural science education. The paper shows the particularities of presenting issues lying at the intersection with the problems of value attitude to living beings and shown in Soviet textbooks and popular science literature as well as achievements of enthusiastic educators striving for the integration of bioethical problems into the curriculum. Scientific novelty of the research lies in determining the key role of private volunteer initiatives in Soviet education humanisation and in revealing the reasons why nature protection education of that period was insufficient for overcoming the environmental crisis.
