Abstract

Volunteer activity is one of the effective means of developing the highly motivated personality, but in practice, students participate in volunteer activities episodically and unsystematically. Research aim is to develop and empirically test a model for the development of professional motivation among bachelors of education through their inclusion in professionally oriented volunteer activities. Developed model includes learning with “2+2(3)” scheme, as it provides for the admission of applicants to an enlarged group of areas of training, learning for two years, choice of training and educational program at the end of the second course. In order to get acquainted with the profiles of training, pre-profile modules are integrated into the academic part of the bachelor's program, which are studied in the first and second years. For a deeper immersion in the profession, an additional educational program “Pedagogical Volunteering” has been developed; its content is correlated with pre-profile modules and allows students to gain first professional experience. The model was tested for two academic years; the total sample was 115 students: 57 people with a desire to learn in the “Pedagogical Volunteering” program were included in the experimental group, 58 students – in the control group. Repeated diagnostics of students' professional motivation revealed statistically significant positive changes in the level of development of professional motivation of students in the experimental groups compared to the same indicator for students in the control groups. The obtained results show that the inclusion of students in professionally oriented volunteer activities contributes to the development of professional motivation
