Abstract
The purpose of the article is to carry out a comprehensive analysis of the problem of transformation and functioning of the archive as a special type of institutional community in the context of current trends in global information impacts and challenges generated by the activation of national and international social and communication interaction. Methodological basis constitutes the general scientifi c principles of historicism, integrity, comprehensiveness, determinism, and scientifi c impartiality. To solve the scientifi c problem outlined in the study specifi c-historical, systemic, structural-functional and sociological analysis, methods of comparison, generalization and typologization are used. This topic is located at the intersection of archival science, historical science, psychology and social communications, so the study of its individual aspects is carried out at the border of various scientifi c disciplines based on interdisciplinary and systematic approach. Scientifi c novelty consists in updating a problem that has not previously become the subject of special scientifi c study due to the totality and nature of the research tasks being solved. Conclusions. The archive essence is characterized as an important element of the social communication system of the digital age society, main trends of interaction between the modern archivist and society are analyzed. Features, methods and means of adaptation of the archival community to the new information environment are identifi ed, an attempt is made to identify problems and prospects for mastering its representatives of a new social role in the context of constant changes in the information and communication industry. Based on the today realities, an important place is given to social media as a tool for implementing socio-communicational and image-building strategies for the development of the modern archive, an attention is focused on current practices in this.
