Abstract

One of the key aspects of modern global economic development is the deepening of the systemic economic crisis in the European Economic and Monetary Union (EMU). This article examines the current characteristics and trends in the development of EMU. The relevance of the research is due to the need to study the problems and risks arising in the process of European integration at the present stage. The aim of this work is to identify, analyze and assess the current characteristics and trends of development of the European Economic and Monetary Union. The research methodology includes structuring, comparison, generalization, systemic, eco-nomic, institutional, logical, statistical analysis, as well as the use of induction, deduction and synthesis. The results of the study are analysis and assessment of the features and flaws of European economic integration and the systematization of negative trends leading to a weakening of the EMU’s position in the global econo-my.
