Abstract

Obtaining Russian higher education by a foreign citizen is associated with a number of difficulties. This may be the problem of adaptation, socialization, language barriers, etc. Education of foreign students in Russian universities is organized in different ways. This study is devoted to the problem of co-education of foreign and Russian students. The conducted survey showed that students' opinions were almost equally divided (51.2 and 48.8). Among the positive results students note faster and better adaptation and socialization, success in mastering educational material, broadening of outlook and new acquaintances. Negative consequences include lower self-esteem, increased anxiety and complication of the process of acquiring knowledge due to the use of methods and techniques of interaction between teacher and student, accepted among native speakers, lack of linguistic adaptation of the actual material to the capabilities of a foreign student. As a result of the study, the authors conclude that it is impossible to determine the format of teaching a foreign student by administrative means and that it is necessary to prepare teachers and Russian students for co-education learning. Total training of foreign students with Russian students may be convenient from the administrative point of view, but not always effective from the point of view of forming professional competences.
