Abstract
According to the results of the theoretical and empirical research of the infl uence of coping strategies on the peculiarities of self-development in adolescence, it is determined that constructive coping strategies contribute to the improvement of physical well-being, activate mental activity and cause positive emotional experiences and, accordingly, promote successful adaptive behavior and self-development of boys and girls ; the use of non-productive coping strategies leads to an increase in negative psycho-physiological symptoms, disorganization of intellectual activity, the emergence of negative emotional experiences, accompanied by an attempt to avoid or ignore the problem, direct efforts not to its solution, but to reduce emotional stress, which complicates the processes of self-development.
