Abstract

The purpose of this study is to extract implications relating to educational programs of swimming instructors and qualification by analyzing cases of foreign countries advanced in swimming. Swimming education in Japan, Australia, and the United States were analyzed utilizing literature review, including articles, official reports, and press releases. As a result, first, qualifications of instructors are classified by target and level to strengthen the educational capabilities of instructors, and the goals and effects regarding their education are clearly presented. Second, the educational course of instructors lead a natural interconnection between daily swimming and elite swimming. To conclude, such results and implications must be implemented into the process of the education process and evaluation system of swimming instructors in Korea. This also shows the necessity of research for this area.
