Abstract

The present study aims to develop a simulation of water jet from a fire monitor working in a ship in seaways. The physics was simulated using Unity engine, composed of water jet trajectory and ship motion in waves. Regarding ship motion, the time history of the translational acceleration and rotation of the ship mass center were estimated based on the standards of ship motion and attitude by US Navy. The water jet behavior was simulated by implanting fluid motion library based on the particle approach. The water jet parameters were tuned by an empirical formula for water jet trajectory. Decrease of fire suppression performance in seaways was quantified by the delivery rate of the water particles to the fire source region.
