Abstract

This study was conducted to identify the utilization of the Children’s Meal Card (CMC) in Busan and suggest ways to improve it in the future. An in-depth interview was conducted with six college students who were living in Busan and had used the CMCs. It was found that users mainly use convenience stores and prioritize taste and price when choosing food. The downside to using the CMCs was the lack of affiliate stores and the limit on the daily usage amount. There was also a lack of information on the locations of the affiliate stores and the types of food sold. Meals procured using CMCs were recognized as poor-quality meals. It was also observed that users have little nutrition education. Therefore, it is suggested that the necessary nutrition education be provided and the app coverage extended to allow users to choose appropriate affiliated stores. Also, users should be provided information that allows them to select much better meals within the given budget.
