Abstract

The aim of the study is to characterize the meaning-forming function of intermediality in the works of the modern Russian-language writers. The scientific novelty of the paper consists in the fact that the tech-niques of intermediality are considered as one of the ways of creating a transitive worldview in the novels of G. Yakhina, I. Abuzyarov and S. Yuzeyev. The author substantiates the idea that intermediality is found in the novels of the contemporary Russian-language writers in two forms: as transfiguration and transposi-tion, corresponding to the compositional and architectonical forms of interaction of the arts. G. Yakhina’s novels “Zuleikha Opens Her Eyes” and “My Children” use cinematic narrative techniques (visualization of the narration, discontinuity of the plot and rapid change of locations in which the events developed). S. Yuseyev’s novel “Don’t Interrupt the Dead” are constructed by analogy with the musical genre of the sonata. As a result of the study, it has been found that the interconnection within one work of the languages of different art types (literature, music and film) demonstrates the transition of the margin between them and becomes the source of transitive meanings, determining the specificity of the construc-tion of the world image in the works.
