Abstract

Background Drag reducing additives (DRA) make leak location by a traditional pressure gradient method impossible due to degradation. In this regard, location of the intermediate outflow (leaks) on the basis of a mathematical model of the drag reduction efficiency of DRA, identified by the calibration laboratory or commercial tests. Aims and Objectives To develop methods of calculating the location of intermediate outflow or leak in pipelines in case of DRA use. Methods Verification of the mathematical model based on pilot tests. Numerical calculations to determine the location of intermediate outflow or leak from the oil pipeline. Results The developed mathematical model can be used to locate leaks taking into account DRA use and degradation.
