Abstract

The paper aims to determine lexical innovations in the language of the 1917 newspaper. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the author for the first time identifies lexical transformations introduced into the Russian language in 1917. The conducted research allows concluding that “Narodnaya Gazeta” actively used social-political, emotional-expressive, colloquial vocabulary, borrowings and lexical neologisms. It is noted that lexical simplification serves to make the text understandable and available to readers. Lexical innovations were introduced in order to propagate revolutionary ideology and to motivate workers to read this ideologically oriented newspaper.
