Abstract

The article examines the phenomenon of myth-creation in the modern world. It is shown that the myth is a mysterious cultural phenomenon creating history of the mankind and serving as an instrument to control the society and personal consciousness. The theme of the myth acquires special importance in the context of human socialization. The paper considers types of myths, mechanisms of their formation, identifies causes of tension arising as a result of inconsistency of general cultural and personal myths, and reveals mechanisms of realization and actualization of the myth in individual practice.
