Abstract
The research objectives are as follows: to identify techniques to translate the Russian compound sentences with parataxis into Chinese and to reveal factors that determine the choice of the appropriate Chinese construction. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the authors summarize ways to translate the Russian compound sentences with parataxis into Chinese and show how the choice of the Chinese equivalent is determined by structural-semantic peculiarities of the original text. Three types of the Russian compound sentences with parataxis are examined: sentences with a predicative clause, sentences with an attributive clause and sentences with a comparative clause. The conducted research allows concluding that both simple and complex sentences can serve as the Chinese equivalents of the Russian compound sentences with parataxis.
