Abstract
The legal foundations of the functioning of the Institute of cadastral activity in Russia are considered. The author gives a brief historical information about the formation origins of the surveying procedure in Russia. The development stage of the cadastral activity industry since 2001, as well as the state of modern Russian legislation in this area are analyzed. Proposals are made to improve the current legislation in the field of cadastral activity.
