Abstract

The research purpose is as follows: to reveal specificity of ellipsis functioning in economic discourse of modern English-language publicistic articles, to describe the translation techniques to recover the omitted elements. Scientific novelty of the study involves identifying a new type of ellipsis in a grammar structure consisting of a word and its attributing infinitive. As a result, the following ellipted words are singled out: a noun – substitute pronoun with its article and a noun with its article. Moreover, the author has traced a traditional omission of the words attributed by the infinitive in the structure involved after verbs of search, with a phrasal verb preposition falling out . Ways to recover omitted elements are described.
