Abstract

The study is devoted to the linguistic and cognitive analysis of the conceptualized image of the fox in the prose work of Maria Konopniсka and Ivan Franko. Works for children are one of the most important means of national and cultural education and learning the native language. In the course of the research, many commonalities were found in the objectification of the concept of “fox” in Ukrainian and Polish linguistic cultures due to similar ethno-cultural semantics, the territorial proximity of the lands where the writers come from, as well as a lot of individual ones that testify to the author’s priorities and preferences. The conducted analysis showed that the concept of “fox” is characterized by an extensive system of nominations, is polysemantic, cognitively multifaceted, axiologically marked, and requires further thorough study, primarily in a comparative aspect.
