Abstract

Conditions for occurrence of dust storms on the territory of the Astrakhan oblast are considered. An analysis of the chronological development of atmospheric processes of the shaft-shaped dust storm formation in the south of the Astrakhan oblast was carried out by the synoptic method. The study provides an assessment of the air mass stability in terms of weather patterns, the evolution of the front and pressure systems and a sequence of their spatiotemporal changes. The importance of the analysis and synthesis of heterogeneous, often conflicting data by weather forecasters is emphasized. The research can be used in operational work to improve weather forecasts and storm warnings, as well as hydrodynamic modeling of dust storm occurrence.
