Abstract

The article examines the level of food consumption by five respondent families of health care workers in 1965. The study is based on the materials of the State Archives of Sverdlovsk region and the current archives of the Territorial Office of the Federal State Statistics Service of Sverdlovsk region. After analysing scientific and statistical literature, the author concludes that the respondent families’ food consumption was substantially below the minimum consumption rate, below the food consumption rate in developed countries and comparable with the food consumption rate in under-developed countries - the Soviet Union’s satellites.
