Abstract
The article reveals the process of the emergence and formation of a Free-Cossack Movement in Ukraine in the context of the revolutionary events of 1917. It has considering the driving forces of Movement and its purpose, peculiarities of the formation of organizational structures, search of ways of cooperation with the new authorities of Ukraine by Cossack organizations. It has elucidating the controversy in the party-political environment of Ukraine, which did not allow to develop the Movement to the level of the territorial army.
