Abstract

Universities are the centers of training for intellectual development and leadership. They have not only to struggle in the ideological fields but they have also to strive in the educational and physical spheres of life to achieve multi-dimensional objectives. That is why, the co-curricular activities are also arranged especially with the curricular work in these learning hubs. It is highly necessary to keep the ideological aspects in mind while arranging such activities at these places .If these activities are organized in the western prospective, they will build up pro-western individuals and if contrary to it they are planned in the Islamic background, they will, definitely, promote Islamic values, culture and civilization. As being the religion of nature,Islam has not only permitted such activities but it has also presented the practical example of the Holy Prophet (PBUH)in this direction .It is the dire need of the hour to devise a practicable and comprehensive program of co-curricular activities in universities which must exhibit the glorious past of the Muslims in the field of sports and games due to the Holy Prophet’s deep love for such physical activities at all the levels. The following research article has been written to explain and interpret the Muslim values and traditions related to co-curricular field in the higher educational institutions and how to harmonize the prevalent physical activities with the true spirit of Islam.
