Abstract
This paper proposes a model predictive control with variable sampling time for reducing torque ripple in SPMSM drive system. Although the MPC has a fast dynamic response, a large torque ripple is generated by a long and fixed sampling period. Even if the torque ripple is reduced by using a short sampling period, it causes another problem that comes from increased switching losses. In this paper, the proposed method has a smaller switching losses compared to the conventional method while reducing torque ripple. The validity of the proposed method is verified with simulation and experiment results.
