Abstract

Important media competencies of international specialists who face challenges and threats on the Internet are analyzed. The basic definitions of media concepts in the modern globalized world, which are important in the professional activity of international specialists, are clarified. The main threats and challenges (individual) on the Internet are highlighted. It has been proven that in today’s world, an international specialist must have a good command of information and communication technologies in order to create quality content thanks to technology, as well as critical thinking, not to succumb to media violence, media lies and media manipulation. It turned out that the international specialist must fight against fakes, misinformation, false information and well-recognized covert manipulation. The study used a set of general and special methods: the method of conceptual analysis in determining the basic characteristics of media concepts, including media competencies that international specialists should have, comparative analysis (comparing common skills and media competencies that students should have), functional analysis (media competencies, which must be possessed by an international specialist for successful professional activity). Modern media reality creates a new educational paradigm in which media literacy, and at the same time, media competence and media education play an important role and do not stop during life. In addition to their professional skills, young international professionals must also have the media competencies to create quality content. In addition to these skills and knowledge, international professionals need to be aware of the threats that can be encountered on the Internet. At the same time, an international student needs to remember that the generation called «generation z» has the skills to use social networks without much difficulty, but this does not indicate deep knowledge, so traditional education and knowledge are very necessary for a student’s career. -international.
