Abstract

Due to COVID-19, the church is facing various criticisms in the world. The reason is that it has been pointed out as the epicenter of the spread of COVID-19, but it has been quite a while since the church has already lost trust. The fundamental reason for this phenomenon lies in the loss of the church’s identity as a model for the kingdom of God and the inability of Christians to bear the mission of light and salt in the world.BR In order to restore the essence of the church and fulfill the Christian mission, it is necessary to educate laymen living in the world to match their faith and life. Only properly trained laymen can make the church healthy and realise the gospel of the kingdom of God that Jesus Christ spread in the world.BR It is not that there was no educational opportunity for laymen. However, existing Bible studies that train laymen tend to be separated from life in the form of injecting doctrines. Now, an educational search is required to promote the right establishment of faith and the unity of faith and life. To this end, finding a Bible study model that can connect biblical messages and the lives of laymen can be one way.BR In particular, stories have the power to lead learners to faith. Stories help learners pursue and interpret meaning in events experienced by individuals or communities. Finally, stories help learners experience other people, different races, and cultures in various ways, discovering the universal experience and truth of the human community contained in diversity. Therefore, stories are very useful as a method of biblical learning that can help learners match faith and life by connecting life and Bible.BR Ecumenical biblical stories, Thomas Groome’s shared Praxis, and Bibliodramas can be presented as a Bible study model using stories. These can contribute to the Bible study model that helps laymen fulfill their mission in the world through the consistency of faith and life.
