Abstract

The purpose of the article is to study gender differences in attitudes towards corruption in Ukraine and other countries for further use of the results obtained in the prevention of corruption offenses. The article uses a set of scientific methods, namely: comparative law, system-structural, formal-logical. The theoretical basis of the study are works of Ukrainian and foreign scientists. The scientific novelty of the article is that it highlights views on gender differences in attitudes to corruption in Ukraine and other countries, reveals ambiguous patterns in this area, and formulates recommendations for their consideration in improving the mechanism for combating corruption offenses. According to results of the study, following conclusions were drawn that gender differences in attitudes towards corruption in Ukraine and other countries are insignificant. In view of this, it can be assumed that it is impossible to achieve significant success in combating corruption solely by establishing gender equality in enterprises, institutions and organizations. Although the increase in share of women primarily in public authorities and local self-government will obviously have a positive effect in context of combating corruption, as it can increase the efficiency and transparency of public authorities. At the same time, it cannot be ruled out that women who have a negative perception of corruption in certain positions will be forced to adapt to the system of corrupt relations. There is a certain dependence of presence or absence of gender differences in the perception of corruption on the country, which obviously necessitates the study of reasons for different perceptions of corruption by men and women. Keywords: gender; sex; gender inequality; corruption; corruption criminal offense.
