Abstract

Today, lung cancer occupies one of the leading positions in the structure of cancer morbidity and mortality in Russia. Unfortunately, in the vast majority of cases, patients have a widespread process at the time of diagnosis. According to the histological variant, non-small cell cancer prevails among the detected malignant lung tumors. Due to the aggressiveness of the tumor and the latent course of the disease, up to 70% of patients at the time of diagnosis have stages III (30.5%) and IV (39.8%). The treatment of patients with locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer continues to be a subject of research and debate. Surgery remains the radical method of treating lung cancer, but long-term results have not changed significantly over the past decades and are directly dependent on the stage of the disease and the histological structure of the tumor.
