Abstract
The article deals with lexical and grammatical problems arising when translating the English terms in the texts on oil and gas topics. The examples of the terminological units of this scientific and professional field are reflected in the paper. As a result of the study, the authors come to the conclusion that while translating technical terms a specialist requires not only general technical scientific literacy, but also the knowledge of the subject and related areas. Recommendations have been developed to overcome the main difficulties of oil and gas terms translation. The conclusions made by the authors regarding translation errors are confirmed by the results of practical work that was carried out at the faculties of oil and gas fields of training of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) and Omsk State Technical University.
