Abstract

Objectives The purpose of this study is to develop a group counseling program to improve psychologically tired secondary teachers' interpersonal skills with students and parents and verify their effectiveness. Methods To this end, 320 secondary school teachers nationwide were tested for psychological exhaustion(TBI), and 10 out of 40 teachers who showed boundary (T≥55) or higher in the area of instructional crisis were selected as experiments and controls. The results were treated with mixed ANOVA. Results As a result of the analysis, this group counseling program was effective in improving the interpersonal skills of psychologically tired secondary school teachers with students and parents, and the experimental partic-ipants responded positively to the program's effectiveness. In addition, among the sub-areas of interpersonal skills, there were significant differences in the areas of relationship building, rights claims, conflict handling, and emotional support, except for self-exposure. Conclusions It can be seen that the program developed in this study is effective in improving the interpersonal skills of psychologically tired secondary school teachers with students and parents.
