Abstract

The article studies the astronomical vocabulary represented in M. Kashgari’s dictionary «Дивану люгат ит-тюрк» in comparison with the modern Bashkir language and its dialects. The author traces the changes in the semantics of cosmonyms, pays particular attention to phonetic changes and dialect variants of the lexical units under consideration, makes an attempt of the etymological analysis of the words, and gives the examples of using the analyzed lexemes in samples of oral folk art and mythology.
