Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the transformation of the understanding of the role of the family as a carrier of social semiotics in Russian culture in its historical change. Social semiotics contained "archetypal patterns" and "rules" of interaction with the world, which indicates its ideological origins. It regulated the life and activity of the collective, from which, in the historical perspective, it turns into a specific "cultural code". Changes in social semiotics in modern society, the carrier and translator of which is the traditional family, entails not only a change in its status in society, but also a transformation of the social structure of society itself.
