Abstract

The article considers proper names with national and cultural specificity and their role in the formation of the linguistic and cultural image of Iran. The semantic potential of names is evaluated by the material of the Russian poets’ works including S. Yesenin, V. Khlebnikov, S. Gorodetsky, L. Yakubovich and A. Surkov. As a result of the fiction texts analysis, such groups of proper names as toponyms, anthroponyms and mythonyms are identified, and their semantic potential for representing the linguistic and cultural image of Iran in the minds of the Russian national worldview bearers is analysed.
