Abstract
The spatial development of the Russian Federation as a complex and multilevel process stipulates the need to identify key objectives and indicators that reveal the degree of effectiveness of the policy pursued by the state. One of them is the quality of life of Russian citizens, chosen as one of the main guidelines within the frame-work of the development of the Spatial Development Strategy of the Russian Federation until 2025. In this arti-cle, the authors analyze in detail theoretical approaches to the definition of such concepts as “space”, “econom-ic space” and “economic sphere”, the specificity of research approaches to their definition is revealed, and a generalizing definition of spatial development is given. Here, the authors identify and analyze the key compo-nents of the concept of “quality of life” of the population, and also assess the degree to which they are reflected in the text of the Spatial Development Strategy of the Russian Federation for the period until 2025. The authors make an important conclusion that the quality of life of the population is a multicomponent concept, each of the elements of which plays a major role in achieving the goals of spatial development of the Russian Federation. Along with the economy, optimization of the environment, social security, and levels of infrastructural and cul-tural development in the Russian state is significant.
