Abstract

The article considers the specifics, history and development paths of the Islamic regional system for protecting human rights. It is stated that the Islamic system occupies an important place among regional human rights systems; however, it differs in specifics, which are based on the characteristics of Islamic religious legal doctrine, as well as approaches to understanding the characteristics of fundamental rights and their protection, established in the culture and mentality of the inhabitants of the Islamic states. It is summarized that active practical work is ongoing to build an Islamic human rights system, among which are the internal disagreements of the participating governments, as well as the external rejection of the Islamic doctrine of human rights protection. Measures to overcome identified problems are proposed.
