Abstract
This article raises the question of the development trends of peripheral countries in the context of global capitalism on the example of the situation in Kazakhstan. The global crisis of capitalism, exacerbated by the global coronavirus pandemic, has naturally weakened the social foundations of many political regimes, especially in peripheral countries. These countries are in a relationship of unequal economic exchange with the countries of the capitalist center of the world-system. On the example of the protest situation in Kazakhstan, one can see the whole range of class contradictions that exist in modern society.
