Abstract

One of the features of literary-historical research of Serbian literature in the last two decades is the revaluation of the works of forgotten regional writers (Maksimović, 2013). Such research is also focused on the work of Andjelko Krstić, a writer of Old Serbia, important in the field of social, educational and literary engagement. The aim of this paper is to contribute to the critical study of Krstićs work from the aspect of his autobiographical-memoir prose, published in 2000 under the title Memories, as well as its genre and periodization contextualization. The work is structured through the following units: description of the manuscript and intention of Krstićs autobiographical-memoir prose; Memories in the context of documentary prose of Serbian realism; Topos of Krstićs Memoirs; Memories in the light of the functions of literature; the concept and meaning of boundaries; oral tradition; communicative aspect and reception effect.
