Abstract
The aim of the research is to consider religious prison service in the context of solving the practical problems of a secular legal state, to identify the main problems within penitentiary area, which a secular state can solve with the help of religious organizations. The scientific originality of the research lies in the fact that the author considers practical aspects of religious prison service in Russia in the circumstances of its revival today. In the course of study, the author revealed and formulated four main problems within penitentiary area, which a secular state can solve with the help of religious organizations. As a result, it has been proved that religious prison service in a secular legal state becomes a potential resource for solving a complex of government problems within penitentiary area.
