Abstract

In the XXI century, a transformation of the Russian society has occurred. The introduction of capitalist market mechanisms into the Russian economy has led to changes in all spheres of the state and socie-ty. Social changes have led to changes in insti-tutions such as the family, marriage, education, and science. The causes and the process of change of the most important social institutions are the sub-ject of many scientific studies. Scientists are still debating whether these processes of deformation of the modern Russian institutions have been caused by exogenous or endogenous factors. The most important exogenous factors are the impact of the Western capitalist value system, the modern global problems, changes common to all mankind, etc. Endogenous factors that have led to the transfor-mation of the Russian social institutions are the crisis in the Russian economy, the cultural changes of the Russian society itself, etc. While examining this issue, the authors study the crisis of social in-stitutions of the contemporary Russian society and its influence on the demographic situation in the country. The relevance of the study is manifested in the need to study the dramatic transformations of social institutions in Russia and to develop ways to overcome the negative consequences of these transformations.
