Abstract

A purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Kinesio taping therapy on the reduction of elbow joint pain and the improvement in muscle function in elderly women. The elderly female test subjects having elbow joint pain were selected at the I region, and thirteen was subjected to Kinesio taping therapy, and compared them with the non-treating thirteen controls. Five-centimeter wide taping was applied to Kinesio taping groups, twice a week for four weeks. After that, we analyzed various changes such as visual analogue scale, pronation and supination, and muscular endurance. As a result, a statistically significant reduction in visual analogue scale was founded, and meaningful increases in flexibility-demonstrated by pronation and supination test-was observed. Moreover, a statistically significant increase in muscle endurance was also noticed. Overall, this study confirmed the positive effects of the Kinesio Taping Therapy on pain and muscular function for elderly women.
