Abstract

A comparison of graphite oxides by Hummers and Brodie for the gel-like structures formation possibility when interacting with thiourea has been carried out. It was found out that the reduction of graphite oxide by Hummers under the influence of low-power ultrasound and at a graphite oxide suspension concentration not lower than 2 mg / cm3, and thiourea not lower than 0.1 mol / dm3 led to the hydrogel formation. Graphite oxide by Brodie with thiourea does not form a hydrogel under the studied conditions. The surface morphology of the obtained reduced graphite oxides was investigated by scanning electron microscopy.
