Abstract

The presented work is devoted to the study of deformation and destruction of porous ceramics based on diatomite. The dependences of the elastic modulus of the material on porosity were obtained by scanning electron microscopy, mechanical compression tests of samples and acoustic emission method: with a change in the porosity of the medium in the range of 20-60%, the value of the elastic modulus varied in the range from 240 to 50 MPa. It was also found that the tensile strength of the material σs changes by ~10 MPa with a change in porosity.
