Abstract
The article focuses on the study of the dependence of the level of mental well-being on the body image per-ception of female students aged 19–22. The results of the correlation analysis of the parameters of mental well-being and the image of the bodily “Self” are presented. Characteristics of the relationship between the level of mental well-being of the individual and its parameters with the negative portrayal of the girl’s bodily “Self” are outlined. The questionnaire “Scale of Psychological Well-Being” by K. Riff (adapted by T.D. Shevelenkova and P.P. Fesenko), the questionnaire “The Image of the Bodily Self” by I. V. Lybko were used as a research tool. The empirical conclusions are confirmed by the results of statistical analysis (Spearman’s rank correlation criterion). The link between positive perception of body image in young women and the level of psy-chological well-being of the individual, reflecting the perception and assessment of their functioning in terms of maximum potential is revealed. The results of the study can be beneficial to counseling psychologists and psy-chotherapists in determining the targets of psychological correction in girls with low levels of mental well-being and negative self-perception of their appearance.
