Abstract

The article deals with the problem of formation and development of the motivation for students’ learning and research activity in the process of mathematical informaticsinstruction. The development of cognitive learning motives is an essential and integral part of the process of students’ learning and research. The article describes the natural regularities and principal psychological factors that underlie the individual’s research activity, gives certain characteristics of students, who are motivated for educational activities. The influence of internal and external motives on the development and activation of student’s learning and cognitive activity are reflected upon. The conditions of high novelty and complexity, subjective uncertainty are considered to be the main causes of research in human behavior. Attention is drawn to the peculiarities of students’ motivation forming in order to succeed in learning and research. Methods of motivating for learning and research in mathematical informatics instruction are described, based on theoretical motivational basis for research activity and experience of practical work.
