Abstract

The article substantiates the relevance and necessity of ensuring food sovereignty of the country; formulates the goal and objectives related to the achievement of self-sufficiency in quality and affordable food. The importance of the policy of food sovereignty in the aspect of full self-sufficiency of the state in basic foodstuffs as an integral part of the general system of economic security of the country is argued. The paper considers the relationship of the program of sustainable development of the food sector of the domestic economy with the key elements of the quality of life of the population. Special attention is paid to the improvement of the system of strategic planning and forecasting of production of basic food groups of food products. The results of the study allow to prioritize the choice of ways to achieve food sovereignty, to identify the categories of goods, the production of which needs investment.
