Abstract

The paper considers the methodological basis and the first results of exploratory oriented core drilling performed at the site of the underground research laboratory (URL). It presents dip and strike data on metamorphic banding in gneiss and discontinuous faults. Based on these data, the study draws conclusions about the main features of the folded and discontinuous structures available at the site. The resulting insights are essential for the development of a geological site model, as well as forecasting potential contaminant spread.
